Streptococcus pneumoniaecoinfection results in increased disease in a murine model of influenza B virus infection

چکیده
Abstract Secondary Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn) infection is commonly associated with increased hospitalization and death following seasonal influenza virus infection. The animal models of A (IAV) secondary Spn coinfection have described the morbidity mortality leading to several proposed mechanisms enhanced disease. Influenza B (IBV) causes 25% cases bacterial coinfection, yet little known about immune response IBV coinfection. Here, we established a mouse model study disease in singly coinfected animals define mechanism(s) Like IAV followed by inoculation resulted compared or alone. In primed mice, titers were early rapidly migrated lung. Analysis cytokines lung showed pro-inflammatory cytokine (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6) responses infection, which may be These data suggest that initiates innate are worsening Ongoing studies include analysis infiltrating cells during histopathologic complement mediators clinical NIH CIDER Contract #75N93021C00018

effect of influenza virus infection in a murine model of asthma
respiratory virus infection is a major cause of asthma exacerbation. however, the underlying mechanisms of this exacerbation are unknown. therefore, to determine the mechanisms, we examined the effect of influenza infection in a murine model of asthma.mice were divided into four groups: the phosphate-buffered saline (pbs), house dust mite (hdm), influenza, and hdm/influenza groups. the inf...
متن کاملImmunologic Evaluation of DNA Vaccine Encoding Influenza Virus M2 Gene in Type A- Influenza Mice Model
Abstract Background and Objective: The M2 gene expressing the conserved protein in influenza virus can be used to make a single-dose vaccine with permanent immunity. Material and Methods: The mice were allocated to one case group immunized with pcDNA3-M2 and two control groups with pcDNA and PBS, in three dozes with interval of two weeks. Two weeks after the last injection, Cellular imm...
متن کاملFrequency of Influenza A&B in Pharyngeal Secretion of Children with Upper Respiratory Infection
Abstract Background and objectives: Influenza virus is the sixth cause of death in the world. We cannot differentiate it from other respiratory viruses upon clinical signs alone. This study was aimed at determining the frequency of influenza A&B antigen in pharyngeal secretion of children with upper Respiratory Infection (URI). Materials and methods: This cross sectional -descriptive study was ...
متن کاملIncrease of apoptosis in a murine model for severe pneumococcal pneumonia during influenza A virus infection.
The mechanisms of severe pneumonia caused by co-infection of bacteria and influenza A virus (IAV) have not been fully elucidated. We examined apoptosis and inflammatory responses in a murine model for pneumococcal pneumonia during IAV infection. Inflammation, respiratory epithelium apoptosis, and inflammatory-cell infiltration increased in a time dependent manner in the lungs of mice co-inf...
متن کاملSeasonal Outbreak of Influenza A virus Infection in Pediatric Age Groups During 2004-2005 in South of Iran
Background: The pandemic and regional influenza outbreaks resulting from antigenic variation of influenza viruses have been the subject of numerous studies which are crucial to the preparation of the vaccine. Frequent global winter outbreaks of influenza viruses require a constant surveillance of emerging influenza variants in order to develop efficient influenza vaccine. Methods: This study wa...
